Srečanje v Velenju - prvi del

V soboto, 18. aprila, je naš Otok zakladov malo priplul v Velenje, k triperesni deteljici. S Kajo in Lidočko smo pripravile za vsakogar nekaj, bili so swapi, delavnice, skrita gostja, darilca, izmenjave idej in tehnik, in druženje.

MEETING IN VELENJE - PART ONE

On Saturday, 18th April, our Treasure Island sailed to Velenje, to the three-leaf clover. Kaja, Lidočka and I prepared something for everyone, there were swaps, workshops, a hidden guest, presents, exchanges of presents and techniques, and hanging out together. Judging from impressions and comments, the Velenje meeting was another one in a long line of successful meetings, which makes us - the hosts - very happy and we wish to thank all of you who made it happen.

/ Not all photos are available yet, but I can show you at least some of them.

/First of all, the presents we prepared for our guests - pin cushions.

/ Our hidden guest was our illustrator Urška Stropnik Šonc, which you all probably know; these are her great illustrations:

/ Urška told us a bit about her work, she drew some pictures and kindly drew one motive especially for us to colour.

/ We prepared a little present for her as well. My contribution was a little bigger accordion box (for A5 format). I'll show you the other things in the second part of the report.

Tole sem pripravila za swap lončkov/stojal za pisala: lonček s štirimi sedečimi Tildkami za štiri letne čase. Letnim časom sem prilagodila sličice deklic, ozadja, srebrne nalepkice za zgornjem in gumbke na spodnjem robu. Ker ob vseh pripravah za srečanje preprosto nisem imela časa še za embalažo v istem stilu, sem priložila eno majhno vijolično škatlico.
Več o swapih naslednjič.
/ This is what I made for the pencil holder swap: a holder with four sitting Tildas for four seasons of the year. For each season, I chose one Tilda motive and combined woth the backgrounds, silver stickers on the top border and buttons on the bottom borders. Since I was quite busy with all the preparations for the meeting, I simply didn't have enough time to make a matching box, so I added a small purple box.
More on swaps in the next post.

/ And there were workshops too. The two at the beginning of the meeting were a combination of beading and crocheting. Nanca taught the girls to make necklaces by crocheting the wire and using various beads, and Atenka showed us how to persuade seed beads to stand in lines.

Seveda bom.
/ The last thing on the schedule was my workshop. It was more a "watchshop" - after five hours or so of intensive everything, the girls somehow decided to watch the whole procedure "and you'll post the instructions, right?" Of course I will.

/ That would be all for today. I'm going to have to tell you more about swaps, about "cat in the sack", about all the wonderful presents we got, and more and more. There's only one more photo for today - but it's not perfect - there should be almost fifty "little hens in fancy crafting T-shirts" in it, but somehow it happened that the entire meeting went by and we didn't take any group photos. Well, no problem, this only means we had plenty to do, which is also good, right?

Še kdaj nasvidenje v Velenju...
/ See you again in Velenje some day...

Dva čisto drugačna umetnika

TWO ENTIRELY DIFFERENT ARTISTS

/ Since another meeting of the Treasure Island is approaching, and I'm one of the hosts this time, I've been quite busy lately, but I'm not allowed to show you the things I've been making.

/ Therefore I'm inviting you to take a few minutes and take a look at these two great guys.

Dve velikonočni

Za dva pereščka naše triperesne deteljice.

Po zelo zelo dolgem času sem stopila iz svojega zacementiranega 11,5 x 17,5 formata in naredila dve harmonika voščilnici - vsak motivček se ponovi trikrat, ker smo tudi me ravno tri.

Ovčke so odpotovale h Kaji75, zajčki pa k Lidočki.

Upam, da ste se vsi imeli lepo!

TWO EASTER CARDS

For two leaves of our three-leaf clover.

After a long long time, I stepped out of my 11.5 x 17.5 cm format and made two accordion cards - every motive is repeated three times, for the three of us.

The sheep took best wishes to Kaja75, and the bunnies went to greet Lidočka.

I hope you all had a great time!

In sem jih malo poskusila pokvačkat. Tole je moj prvi poskus.

AFTER A LONG TIME SOME JEWELLERY

It seems to me I kept my beads in their boxes for ages. Well, I pulled them out again a few days ago. And I tried some bead crocheting. This is my first attempt.

Kam so šle vse...

No, naše so šle sem:

WHERE HAVE ALL THE...

...flowers gone - you probably heard the tune. But it's not the flowers I'm talking about, it's the cards. Those plastic ones, ranging from health insurance cards, membership cards and club cards, mostly those we don't need everyday and we usually search for in drawers, bags, pockets.

Well, ours have gone in here:

Taking the size of the dentist's cards, which are slightly larger than classical plastic cards, I made a small accordion box that is closed with a small piece of velcro. I tried to make the monochromatic violet surface a bit more lively with my flowers made of ribbons.

FOR MY BIG LITTLE GIRL

who is celebrating her birthday today, I found (beside the present she will choose for herself in our today's family afternoon) some great, funky animals to colour at Bang On the Door. I printed some of them, cut them to a square shape 19 by 19 cm and made a simple envelope - I took two slightly larger squares and "glued" them together on three sides with round stickers (well, "glued" is a bit too "strong" - I had to help them with glue - pha, some stickers!), and at the top, I made a topper with a red paper circle where I put one smaller version of the kitty.
And the fact that she'll get to colour them with my Tria markers is literally the cherry on top
.

Razglednice iz Pariza

POSTCARDS FROM PARIS

In seveda s fotoaparatom.
/ I spent Friday and Saturday walking the streets of Paris. (How nonchalant I said that - as if I spent every other week on another continent...) But it's true. My dear hubby has some business errands, and he organised things for me to come along. So my first meeting with Paris was partly solo and partly with my DH. And with the camera of course. Beside a bunch of photos one can find in every tourist guide, there are also a few that actually belong in this post.

Najprej sprehod po Elizejskih poljanah
/ First of all, a stroll on Champs Élysées

in po parku Tuileries.
/ and in the Garden of Tuileries.

Nato Louvre. Štiri ure, sama. Fantazija.
/ Then Louvre. Four hours, by myself. Fabulous.

Meni so bile sobane in slike in kipi bili dovolj.
/ In my opinion, everyone should experience Louvre on their own. I cannot imagine walking around in a group with a guide. Or with the children. The halls and paintings and sculptures - it was all I needed.

In seveda sem šla po sledeh Da Vincijeve šifre :)
/ And of course I followed the trails of the Da Vinci Code :)

/ But I didn't take photos of the greatest works of art. Instead, I took a photo of people taking photos of Mona Lisa. And people with headphones on their ears, listening to the guide telling them about the Venus of Milos. And children who were brought to the museum by their teacher to see portraits painted by Rubens. But I was even more fascinated by various decorative objects, endlessly large tapestries, carved caskets - well, the things for which I can vaguely imagine how many hours, days, weeks, years it took the people to make them.

Tale je z Montmartra.
/ This one's from Montmartre.

Tale je iz Notre Dame.
/ This one's from Notre Dame.

Tale je iz ene od pasaž.
/ This one's from one of the passages.

In toliko različnih ljudi vidiš - toliko lepih ljudi! In toliko različnih jezikov slišiš.
/ The Metro itself is fascinating - its size and its simplicity (you have to be totally functionally illiterate if you don't get it how it works), not to mention its speed and reliability. And you get to see so many different people - so many beautiful people! And you get to hear so many different languages.
And you can also come across such a colourful entrance to the one of the stations.

Pisano igrišče v bazenčku pri centru Pompidou.
/ Colourful playground in a little pool next to the Pompidou Centre.

Stojnica z rožami (sigurno bo vsaka prej ali slej opazila, kako neugledne so "vaze"...)
/ A flower stand (sooner or later, everyone will probably notice the shabby "vases"...)

/ Cool drawings on... I don't know what it was.

Pa ena dekliška izložba.
/ A girly window shop.

/ And a window shop to give you an idea what to do if you accidentally end up with three hundred antique sewing machines - the shop has at least six windows like this one.

No, čisto brez znamenitosti ne bo šlo.
/ Well, this post won't be totally without sights after all. I'll show you one photo of the "Parisian handsome guy" - at my DH's request. When we were descending from the top, the lights that illuminate the tower at night just went on, and the sky wasn't totally dark yet.

Ja, saj slišim. ("Kaj si pa kupila?") Zelo malo:

/ Yeah, I can hear you. ("What did you buy?") Not much:

- A coffee maker - I got one just like this years ago from my brother-in-law who always gets us the coolest presents. But, being such a heavy coffee drinker, I managed to break it and I couldn't find a new one.
- A fridge magnet for my dad.
- A little souvenir plate for Keti's neighbour.
